Rottweiler Saves The Day

Speaking of coyotes, they really will snatch your little dogs and have them as a snack. Luckily, there's big dogs to help out now and then.

Unless there were more around I wouldn't be too scared of the little guy(certainly not for my life). We have a fairly large coyote pop where I live in cali but I've never seen one as aggressive as the one in the vid.

They're usually such pussies they run at the slightest provocation.

agreed though I probably wouldn't put my hand out and try to pet it. Although I wouldn't pet a ferral cat or dog either ... or most wild animals at that.

Im no coyote expert, but that was a hungry and/or angry coyote. When I did field exercises in Kansas in the Army they would surround our foxholes at night and how,l but they would never come real close to us, even in big packs, They were so skittish that it was common to catch one taking a shit in the middle of the road so he could see from all angles whilst taking a dump. My "battle buddy" bailed on me one time from their howling. I though It was a riot, He jumped out and hauled ass from our foxhole position,

Beautiful animal. Exposing the fingers probably wasn't the smartest though lol.

For those of you who thought his life might be in jeopardy, consider that there have only ever been two recorded cases of human deaths by coyote. One was a 3 year old and another was a 19 year old girl who tried to run away.

We have a bunch of them in the woods here, bastard kept getting braver last year. Would come all the way to the edge of the woods just 15 feet from the house. Then they started trying to get in the chicken house. I now consider them nothing more than targets for the 30-30.

With fricken lasers too!

Did anyone else get the impression that that coyote was semi domesticated and thought he was offering food but was still skittish?

Rather than being aggressive.

Yea, it was definately used to the presence of people and did not consider the cameraman a threat.

One of the few healthy coyotes I've seen.

Probably because of the high-fat, high-carb diet its been on from handouts and the neighbors trash.

That was not an aggressive coyote. Hey was "playing/testing" When they get pissed off and territorial they hunch up their backs and shit everywhere. It's not really good to see a coyote that OK with being close to a person, but unless that dude actually exposed his neck to the yote he was never in any real danger.

This.

That was clearly canine play behavior and not aggression for any part of it. He was actually somewhat smart in that he didn't flee, which could have triggered the animal's attack instinct. That doesn't mean it was smart for him to play with a wild animal.

It was interesting at the beginning to see the Coyote's behavior change to one of play and kept trying to get him to chase it.

I'm actually very inclined to agree with these sentiments, as it appeared that when he turned his back and walked away it seemed to chill out and break off. Dogs are trained off of rowdy behavior in the same way. Stop giving them attention and it stops being fun.

And I thought the same thing, airdrummer.

Most ballsy, fearless Coyote I've ever seen, must've been hungry. There are a whole bunch pn my block and for the most part they're timidly little things. Despite living inside the city they avoid humans. Ever encounter one, just puff out your chest raise your arms above your head and roar as loud as you can. That usually makes themsleves shit themselves or run away.

Better than the evolving californian accent where it seems even professionals end every sentence with a rise in tone, like they're uncertain if they're making a statement or asking a question.

He's certainly one of the heaviest. Most I've seen are a lot skinnier than that one. I suspect the one in the video is being fed by some people somewhere. It would explain its behavior. It was acting like if it harassed the guy long enough he'd feed it.

we used to have a fox that became very comfortable with people in a camp i worked out Williston Lake in BC, that was very similar to that set-up in. We would feed it bacon, one french kid gave it a piece of steak from his mouth.
I dont think i would be comfortable doing that with a coyote though
